Welcome to The Bread House & Granary
Inhabited in a house over one hundred years old that was strategically renovated to maintain the original architectural structure and integrity of the building, The Bread House is a gem inside of a gem.
The Bread House is home to more than just the breads, cookies and other baked good products we freshly make every morning, but offers a farm to table fresh restaurant, a specially concocted coffee and juice bar, a giant fanned porch and fenced in garden, as well as an upstairs women’s clothing and gift boutique called Vardo. Did we mention there’s a venue that can be rented out for private events too? The Bread House is of a place like no other- in all aspects.
The Bread House is also the foundation of several missions all blended into one unique small-town business with big time aspirations. We attempt to support our local farmers by using their fresh produce as ingredients in all our dishes, therefor explaining our seasonally evolving menu. We have taken residency in our beloved, downtown community in hopes of encouraging other local business owners to invest in all it has to offer. Lastly, The Bread House not only helps to financially sustain the local non-profit, and our nearby neighbor, GraceWay Recovery Residence, but is proud to employ its residents as well, which is our greatest mission of all. What we’re all about is simple: Community supporting community.
The Bread House hopes to satisfy your palate while providing a unique dining experience in a warm and welcome environment that never seizes to invite you back. After being home to countless other business since 1908, this building is truly an Albany landmark that has woven itself into the fabric of our town’s lives. The Bread House is honored to have sparked new life in this historic building and we can only hope we are fortunate enough to take stake in it for the long haul.
