Our Chef
Buck O’Neal
Buck’s passion for cooking came when he was just five years old standing alongside his uncle in the kitchen of a local restaurant, owned at the time by his aunt and uncle. As it runs in the family, and with parents and grandparents who were seasoned in the art of true southern comfort food, one could say that culinary talent is just in his blood. Drawing inspiration from his cherished family recipes, Buck honed his skills through years of experience. However, it was his desire to honor his roots and give back to the community that led him to The Bread House.
As Head Chef of The Bread House, Buck has seamlessly integrated his family’s southern culinary heritage into the restaurant and bakery’s menu. From his Blackberry Lemon Icebox Pie and Walnut Brownie Cockaigne to Slow Cooked Barbeque Pulled Pork and Southern Chicken Shawarma pays homage to his upbringing while delighting the palates of patrons near and far.
Buck and The Bread House share a common mission: to be a force of positive change within their community. Together, they remind us that food has the power to heal, connect, and uplift, and that a simple second chance can spark a journey of transformation for both individuals and the neighborhoods they call home.
